Cocoa was introduced in São Tomé by the portuguese in the XVII century, being the archipelago considered the largest world cocoa producer in the late XIX century.
This product was, for many years, one of the driving forces this region’s economy.Four decades after independency, cocoa was once again valued with a fine aroma.
This region produces mainly amelonium variety but also has some interesting trinitarian cocoas in terms of fineness, aroma and taste.
